Finding self-storage can often be a daunting task.  So we have created a list of things we think are important to consider when choosing a self-storage facility.

5 Things To Consider When Choosing A Self Storage Facility

1. Location and Accessibility When selecting a self storage facility you will want to decide on the location the best suits your needs.  Would you like a facility that is close to where you currently live? Do you want to have a location that is easily accessible? Will you need access after hours? and so on.

2. Security While making a decision about self-storage you should also consider the type of security that is in place.  Is the facility in an unsavory neighborhood?  Would you prefer the security of a walk in storage unit over a drive up or mobile storage container?  Does the self storage location have fencing?  Cameras?  Do they have a full security system in place?  As well you may consider weather or not they also provide insurance, especially if your home owners insurance doesn’t provide insurance for offsite storage.

3. Customer Service Consider the employees and the quality of customer service.  Good employees and customer service are indicative of good owners and will likely mean that you and your belongings will be treated with the utmost care.  This will help give you peace of mind during your move and once you have left your things behind.

4. Cleanliness This is important as a clean facility reflects the pride a company has and how well your belongings will hold up while in storage.  A clean facility means you personal belongings are less likely to be damaged by little critters, dirt, dust or mold growing in your unit.

5. Rates and payment options Well not always important, this is definitely something to consider.  The easier a self storage company makes it to make payment, the better for you.  With various methods of payment you know you will always be able to make your payment on time and ensures you don’t incur any late fees, or lose your belongings to auction as a result of overdue payment.
